Lauren drove into an old driveway, the cement cracking, grass now growing between the cracks. She turned off the vehicle, without loosing grip she looked up to the old abandoned house. It was a huge white building, dirt covered it all which ways making it seem more gray than white. Some of the windows were broken, while others were boarded up. Her attention then looked up to the garage which was now over grown with weeds and vines. Lauren let out a slow breathe then looked in the rear-view mirror to see the box which resided on her backseats. She hurried and grabbed the flashlight in the passenger seat then put on her thin jacket.
Lauren opened the vehicle door, stepping out onto the cold ruined pavement Lauren started to wish more and more that she had brought someone along with her. Her mother thought she was staying the night at Katy's. Lauren shook her head at her own stupidity and shut her car door, then clicking the button on her keys locking the car doors. She turned around, walking slowly out to the side walk. As she reached the side walk she stood in front of the path up to the building's door. She stood there, staring up at the building which had once been a home.
She was there, she was at the place where it all began. It was the Myer's house. She knew she was stupid for coming, she knew what could be in there, she knew that her Uncle could be waiting in the darkest corner of the establishment, ready, ready to take her life away.
Lauren tried to talk herself out of this, but she kept losing the battle within herself. She then began to walk up the path, up the stairs, and to the old wooden door. She opened it, the door made a loud creaking noise. As the door opened the light from outside filled the darkness. Lauren walked in and shut the door, she couldn't get caught now, could she? She turned on her small flashlight, the light was pretty bright for being a small flashlight.
Lauren walked around the house, the floor creaking. She looked around, seeing old papers, furniture, and that is when she saw it. A ladder was laying up against the wall. Lauren quickly remembered the box in the back seat, and the video cassette within it. The strange images shown, one was a ladder. What did it mean? She still didn't know. It showed strange images, her voice was even in it, oh and lets not forget..... He was in it.
Out of no where she began to hear a sound coming from the closet. Her eyes grew huge as she backed up bumping into the lamp standing right behind her. She jumped high letting out a small scream, making the noise from the closet stop. Lauren gulped, it was a stupid thing to do, a very, very stupid thing. Lauren walked over to the closet opening it slowly, she jumped.
Damn it. It was just a rat, wow she felt even more stupid. She kind of laughed to herself and then pointed the flashlight up the stairs.

Lauren stood there motionlessly. Her flashlight shining up to the second floor of the old home her cousins once lived in. She took a slow but deep breath, she couldn't help but feel like someone was watching from the darkness which fell all around her. It was as if the light of day never filled the place.
After he brief pause she nodded slightly, telling herself the famous "I can do this". As she began up the steep stairs. The wood creaked as she walked, the thought that the boards could just break from under her filled her mind as she gripped the railing, which in all honesty would break right along with the stairs. Once she reached the top a feeling of relief swept through her. She hated going into old buildings as the floors could fall down from under you. She looked down the long narrow hallway, shining the light through the dust which was flying around from her walking around and touching things.
Suddenly her phone vibrated. She stopped to reach in her back pocket, thinking she must of turned it on vibrate on accident. As she flipped open the cell she saw she had one new message. Weird. The phone didn't even ring. Lauren pushed play and held it up to her ear looking around the darkness and shining the light in every corner to make sure no one was there with her. The voice mail was full of static and disoriented sounds, Lauren listened to them for a little amount of time to then be greeted by silence. Suddenly the operators voice came on making Lauren's heart jump a little.
"You have no more messages."
She hung up the phone with a confused look painted upon her face. After the strange voice mail Lauren was too creeped out to venture more into the house and decided to get the hell out of there when suddenly a soft sound could be heard coming from one of the rooms down the hall. Curiously she followed the sound which could be depicted as music once she got closer. As she reached the room where the music was coming from she walked in slowly shining her flashlight around before entering.
This room was different, light was shining in from the windows where missing boards were. It was full of pink things, the bedding everything. Though of course it was old and dirty so it wasn't as pink as it should of been. She followed the music to the window, where a small nightstand was sitting. There a little music box with a ballerina spinning round and round sat on the little stand. Lauren made a slight smile, remembering the music box he mother gave to her when she was younger. She closed it looking around again, making sure no one was there. Those sometimes go off on their own once they get old like that, Lauren's did it as well so she didn't think too much on it.
As she turns around to leave she notices the dresser against the wall right across from the window. The round mirror hooked to it looked very old and weathered. Lauren walked over to it, picking up the hair brush laying on top. The dust out line was very noticeably, no one had messed with this stuff for a long time, that was for sure. The hair of it's owner was still tangled throughout it. As she sat it down she noticed to porcelain doll covered in dust, the face giving Lauren shivers. She looked back up to the mirror to see her reflection and... a shadow moving behind her.
Lauren screamed, not looking back she ran out the door. As she ran down the steps her leg smashed through one of them making her let out another scream. She quickly struggled to pull out the leg looking up the stairs to see if the shadow had followed. Once she freed herself she ran out of the house, limping a bit to her car. As she jumped in she pushed the lock button and threw the keys in the ignition and drove out of there in seconds.
As she drove her heart pounded and her breathe was racing more and more. She moved her hand down to touch her leg. She stuck her hand in a warm liquid, at the feeling she quickly looked down. Her leg was covered in blood and her jeans were ripped, she needed to get to her hotel and bandage it up, didn't seem bad enough for stitches.
Lauren quickly made it to the Hotel, using the emergency kit her mother left in the trunk she patched herself up and changed her clothes. Just who was that? Was that..... Him?
She threw her hands into her face trying to collect herself. That was such a stupid idea, she knew one thing for sure, not to go to the Myer's House.
