Those caught in the tangled web we weave....
Human Patients - Those trapped within the walls of the Belkane Institution for the Criminally Insane. Recently, the patients within Belkane have been exhibiting strange behavioral patterns that can only be likened as to that of psychics. It is unknown whether the patients affected by this are aware of this and it is thus unclear as to the nature of the ability, whether or not it has become a voluntary function at their disposal. The exhibition of this phenomenon ranges from a form of telepathy to minute(adj)-telekinesis. More extreme cases have documented poltergeist activity in wake of the patient's examination. These phenomenons are said to have increased at the advent of the Nightmares. Measures have been taken to suppress these abilities through medication and/or surgical inhibition.
Patient Abilities
- Telepathy - Communication between the Patient and a separate conscious.
- Telekinesis - The movement of matter, or the manipulation of a physical system, through non-physical interaction.

Non-Patients - Those beyond the walls of Belkane. These are average human beings of which suffer no mental afflictions of agonies. More often than not, their paths become intertwined with that of a Patient, more common, with that of a Deranged, and if fortune smiles not on these, their paths cross, and often end, with that of a Nightmare.
Non-Patient Abilities
- Anything at the disposal of a human being, whether be it technology or developed skills.

Deranged - Serial killers and Super Heroes. These are those of which have forsaken their place within Belkane, or simply never took one and, as a result, they endure no suppression of their abilities in comparison to their Patient counterparts. The most common of these are of the criminally insane and criminal minded but every so often there arises one which stands opposed to the common factor and brings balance to the equation. In light of this, Deranged individuals can have the basic attributes of a person of normal sanity (coherent speech, lack of social detachment, etc.) as it is their flaw, strength, mental state, or mindset that categorizes them as "Deranged." Ergo, the term is not to be read in its literal tense.
- Note: In world, these are not referred to as "The Deranged," by members of the other categories.
Deranged Abilities
- Because of their state of mental detachment (some would even say mental connection), the Deranged often display feats of greater, or above, human capability, though their restriction to humanity remains. As such, the Deranged are capable of performing feats of the near-superhuman nature.

Nightmare Unexplained anomalies existing within the realm of our reality. These diabolical beings live to serve a single purpose: destruction. Although no clear explanation can be offered as to the existence of the Nightmares, it is certain that once they garner up momentum, putting a stop to their path of destruction becomes less and less of an achievable accomplishment.
Nightmare Abilities
- Supreme powers of destruction. The more common forms of these abilities range from enhanced pain thresholds to resurrection, though greater strengths have been recorded.

Hybrids
- Nightmares cannot hybrid.
- Non-Patients cannot hybrid.
- Deranged and Patient can hybrid (with limitations).
Subcategory Abilities
- Abilities that branch off from the primary category.
- Example: A martial arts student has developed heightened reflexes as a result of the martial arts themselves.

- Pyrokinesis [Patient/Non-Patient/Deranged] - Fire creation

--You'll notice that the Nightmare category is marked with no prohibition on some of these. Despite this, these abilities must be kept in check and cannot be insanely catastrophic.
