Being an employee at such an institute seems to have its own effects on others around him. Some question his own sanity to work at such an awful place, but others see him as a caring and passionate man. Alex himself doesn't think of himself as either of those things, just simply doing what he does best, helping people. Being a new Doctor at the institute he still hasn't learned the "quirks" that come with this job, sine he has just begun he is expected to see the true darkness Belkane holds inside its walls. Dr. Alex Denton has came to the institute with a positive attitude, and ready to help the patients of this place most consider "their own personal hell". This in some doctor's eyes makes him, naive, and immature, as most believe that these people are no longer human beings, but disorderly monsters the world itself has created. Being a friendly people, person, has made Alex a phenomenal Doctor and one of the best newly graduated doctors. He is very courteous and affectionate person. His respect and kindness to his patients have been praised at the institute before Belkane, which he only worked in for a year. But behind all of this kindness and smiles lies the true Alex struggling with his own past. The Alex that blames himself for his wife's death, the Alex who is an alcoholic, the Alex who is looking over his shoulder all the time and pray that the thing he has been running from since a child isn't there, this is the true Alex. When Alex drinks, he drinks until totally drunk, in the end causing him to pass out. Drinking in Alex's eyes is the way of coping with the world and his past, though all it does is make him more depressed and thinking of the events that traumatized him to the way he is today. Before his wife died, before moving away from Chicago, Alex lived a wonderful and happy life. He had a beautiful wife, a great income, and huge house filled with their precious treasures. He was a cheerful and loving man. His wife was his one thing that kept him in a wonderful mood, his love of his life, the one he planned to have his children with. With the death of his wife, Alex has shut down and avoids getting close to someone, and once he feels the bit emotion of affection for someone he will avoid them at all costs, this in his mind is the only defense to the pain of losing someone.
